Learn more about Kate and why she decided to become an investor.
FrontFundr: Where do you work?
Kate: I am a small business owner—I own a hair salon in Nanaimo, BC.
FrontFundr: What are some of your interests or passions?
Kate: I’m passionate about running and I’m set to complete my second half marathon this summer. I also help with my husband’s basketball team at VIU whenever possible.
FrontFundr: What type of investment experience do you have—do you manage your own investments or do you have a portfolio manager?
Kate: I manage my own investments. I have mutual funds through my RRSP and I’ve invested through FrontFundr. I’ve also invested in a company on Vancouver Island that’s researching how to use the gas emitted from composting into a useable fuel source.
FrontFundr: What inspired you to become an investor in an early stage company?
Kate: FrontFundr gave me the chance to support a business I believe in, and personally knowing one of the founding team members made it easy for me to make the investment decision. I have 100% faith in him and his business.
FrontFundr: What’s one criterion you look for when making investment decisions?
Kate: I always look for something that will help our future and our kids’ future, and sometimes that speaks to me right off the bat.
