 Revenue Model

 

The success fee consists of two components; cash commissions as a percentage of the total funds raised; and warrants (option to purchase the company’s shares at a pre-defined price on or before a future date)

This means that by investing in FrontFundr, you also invest in the companies that successfully raise capital on our platform.

 

 

Market

Addressable Market – According to the Crowdfunding Industry Report (Massolution, 2015), the global market for equity crowdfunding grew to US $1.1B in 2014, and subsequently, to US $2.6B in 2015.  In countries such as the U.K., where equity crowdfunding was introduced several years ago, it is estimated that 20% of startups and growth companies use equity or debt crowdfunding.

 

 

As an online Exempt Market Dealer, FrontFundr’s addressable market in North America comprising the entire private market estimated at US $230B.

Regulatory Changes – New rules have recently been adopted, mirroring other countries, in Canada that enable all Canadians to invest in private companies. As an approved Exempt Market Dealer (registered financial services firm), FrontFundr can use and aggregate all existing and new rules making optimal use of opportunities to connect companies with the widest possible investor community.

 

 

Use of Proceeds

Assuming a maximum raise of $1,000,000, the proceeds of this raise will be used as follows:

  • 40% - Sales and Marketing ($400,000)
  • 30% - Technology & Platform Development ($300,000)
  • 15% - Investor and Company Onboarding ($150,000)
  • 15% - General and Administrative ($150,000)

 

 

Exit Strategy

FrontFundr plans to grow dramatically over the next several years and will be reinvesting its operating cash flow in to the continued growth of the company. Once operations have reached an optimal level, management will consider the best exit strategy for its shareholders. This may include a strategic merger or acquisition, or an initial public offering.

Vancouver Startup Week 2018

Vancouver is recognized as one of the world’s fastest-growing Startup communities.

Vancouver Startup Week is one of our favorite times of the year because it showcases what this community is all about. It is great to see all the amazing innovations, ideas, and investors who make up the ecosystem.

This year we hosted an event called Capital Talks on the Patio with some great partners: BDC, BDO and BLG. We also had the Very Good Butchers cooking up delicious plant based BBQ and Container Brewing having a taste test of their latest brew. This year’s panel discussion topic was all about raising capital; how to get ready, timing, best practices, and different types of raises. FrontFundr’s passion is to make it as easy as possible for everyone to invest in great businesses. As thought leaders in the industry that is a topic we continue to explore and promote. With close to 150 investors and entrepreneurs attendees it was by all accounts FrontFundr’s biggest event yet. We are planning to make it an annual event going forward and continue to contribute to the ecosystem.

FrontFundr X Toronto: A New Chapter

FrontFundr made an important decision for our future this year: in order to continue to help more Canadian businesses grow, we needed to have a physical presence in the country’s financial capital. And so it was decided that myself and Steve Smith would relocate from Vancouver to Toronto to open our third office. 


As soon as the decision was made, it was clear to me that this was the opportunity to see more of Canada. I decided to do the road trip from Vancouver to Toronto on my own. What a great adventure it was, and what an amazing country we live in.

 

I met a number of people along the way. When I told them why I was driving from Vancouver to Toronto, they wanted to learn more about FrontFundr. I was encouraged speaking to everyday Canadians who -- when they learned about the opportunity to be their own venture capitalists and invest in early and growth stage businesses they believed in -- signed up to FrontFundr on the spot. These (from every age group, income level, and background) all shared an excitement about investing directly in businesses they could believe in.

 

This is what we are all about. FrontFundr is inclusive, accessible, and modern. We are democratizing investing in emerging and growth-stage Canadian companies that will change the world. 

 

The opening of our Toronto office is a milestone for FrontFundr. We’ve been operating in central and eastern Canada since the launch of our platform mid-2015. We have since helped a number of companies located in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes raise capital from the FrontFundr community.  


We are excited by the early and growth stage companies that are coming out of the Toronto/Waterloo corridor and we know you will be too. With our physical presence in Toronto, we are building out our role in Canada’s startup and growth companies ecosystem, providing companies access to capital from the wider investor community across Canada. With more companies on FrontFundr, you will have even more opportunities to invest in businesses you believe in.
